Top Nine Cooking Tips And Tricks For Busy Moms

October 23, 2023 by Shanta Rath

If you are a busy mom, spending time in the kitchen can be distressing. Often, you may find it difficult to prepare elaborate meals for your family.

At such times, you can use some simple cooking hacks to make your life easy. It will save a lot of your precious time and cooking meals for your family can be like a gentle wind.

Why are Cooking Tips Necessary?

There are some days that may be simply hectic for you. Your family members may expect fresh foods on the table, and you may find it difficult to meet their demands. It is a challenge. Yet, with simple cooking tips, you can easily lay food on the table.

Planning your meals helps a great deal to save your time in shopping. Here are several cooking tips that will help you to be more confident in the kitchen and enable you to prepare your meals easily.

Get an Instant Pot

An instant pot in the kitchen will help you to cook meals for your family like a wind. It is a great way to cook a meal for your family quickly, especially if you have a busy day.

There are several tasty recipes that you can cook in a jiffy such as lemon rice chicken, lentil soup, hard-boiled eggs, roasted chicken, baked potatoes and several other delicacies.

Batch Cooking

You can prepare several recipes in advance and store them in the freezer. It will help you not to waste time clearing up the mess that you would have otherwise spent in the kitchen.

Also, as you do batch cooking, you tend to save a lot of money as you buy groceries in bulk.

Use Cooking Tools and Induction

To save your cooking time, you can invest in some innovative chopping tools such as a slicer, a chopper or a grater. These tools will help you to cut vegetables, onions, potatoes or tomatoes quickly.

You can also switch to induction as you will be able to prepare your meals at high speed. Inductions are much faster than gas and are quite easy to clean. You will save a lot of time in the kitchen.

Stock up your Fridge

Managing your meals becomes easier when you stock up your fridge with your family’s favourite food and vegetables. You can prepare a quick and easy meal without rushing to the store to buy the missing ingredients. For instance, you can easily toss up an omelette or a broccoli salad that is healthy and nutritious.

You can also serve some fruits to your family. Just blend some bananas, berries, milk and yoghurt to instantly prepare a yummy smoothie. You can top it with chopped almonds, cashews or walnuts and make it more nourishing. The healthy drink will make you feel fuller throughout the day and prevent you from indulging in unhealthy snacks.

Try to Keep your Kitchen Clean while Cooking

It will help you to save a lot of time as you clean and cook at the same time. Dip your used dishes directly into soapy water or straight into the dishwasher so that it doesn’t pile up.

To fasten work, you can also keep a bowl on the counter so that you can put in your discarded food materials. You can then put it in the dustbin or compost it at the same time.

Do your Preparation

One of the best ways to save time is to prepare your food well in advance. For instance, you can chop your veggies and seal them in an air-tight container. You can also grate the cucumber, cabbage, carrot or capsicum and store them for preparing sandwiches or stuffed parathas.

You can also roast your semolina and store them in a can for a quick breakfast. Wash your fruits and keep them in the refrigerator so that they can be quickly packed in a lunch or snack bag.

Store Purees and Fruit Pulps

It would be handy if you were able to store ginger-garlic paste in your fridge. Just pound some ginger, garlic and green chillies and preserve it in a container.

You can also prepare some tomato and onion paste or make their purees so that it is easier to prepare vegetarian or non-vegetarian meals. You can instantly use them for curries.

Make Arrangements for the Next Day

As you prepare dinner, make plans and arrangements for the next day. Remove your pans, casseroles, spatulas or whatever utensils you need for the next meals.

It is a small step but it will help to prepare your dinner much faster and help to save a chunk of your time.

Follow Cooking Hacks

There are several cooking websites, blogs and cooking channels that provide helpful cooking hacks. You can follow those and put them into practice in your daily life.

Some of the tips may be effective and some may not but they will help you to save a lot of your cooking time and energy.

The above cooking tips and hacks are simple and easy to follow. You just need to blend them into your daily life and as you do so, you will save a lot of your precious time, and you will start enjoying your life as never before!
